Did I fail already?
Did I fail already? I’m honestly questioning that. It’s May 7th, and I didn’t publish a project in April, did I? Well, somehow I did. I published the personal site, made a lot of changes, spent two hours testing another CMS, and I’m currently running it on Keystatic. I learned a lot along the way, but it’s not an app, is it?
No, it isn’t. Maybe I should change the name of this “endeavor” because the truth is, I’ve been building outside of this laptop too. A real-life project that should count, because it would be unfair not to. I’m on the verge of purchasing the biggest property of my life, with a communal community project on it. I’m working through the financial details, the loan, the investors, and everything that falls under that, so I should consider this part of building as well.
Ok, so I’m not going to say I failed. The website was published, that’s something, and the third project is on the way. I’d say it’s 80% done. I’ll need to revisit it and implement some basic AI features I have in mind before launching, so it’s not really a fail. I’ve realized that, as I keep saying, I should be a little less demanding with myself and count everything I do outside in the real world. These past days I’ve been focusing a lot on work and the quarter change. Tax season finished, and that means a lot of things to do, plus this project that appeared in mid-April and has taken up most of my time. I’d like to share it here too, but there are many steps before it happens. It can take months to see the light.
On the apps side, Vestiari has 5 active users. It’s not a lot, but honestly, I haven’t done much with it. I was recently contacted by a friend who wants to use it, or potentially use it, for something at work. They have a chorus and need to share some clothes, and I may make some changes specifically for them. I don’t mind. I still use it myself, that was the main point, so maybe this isn’t the app that will become a mobile app. I promised myself that if we hit 100 registered users, I’d learn how to build a mobile app, but maybe I should set the threshold at whatever project I release first. The first to reach 100 users gets the mobile version. I think that’s fair.
In the end, I know a lot of the things I’m pushing out aren’t strictly needed. I’ve worked a lot on other workflows with AI integrated for work, and it’s amazing what I can do, but app-wise, yeah, maybe I failed. I don’t know, what do you think? For those reading this in the newsletter, here are the changes to expenses and all the tools I’m currently using. Everything touched during this month is recorded here, along with the time invested, so if you’re curious, feel free to join.
